The DATAPOT project builds upon and expands the results of the previous AtticPOT project, which for the first time systematically collected data on the published inscribed Attic vases from Thrace.
With an emphasis on data sustainability and reusability, DATAPOT combines geospatial analysis (GIS), artificial intelligence (AI), and digital twins to enhance archaeological research through cutting-edge technologies.
In collaboration with the Archaeological GIS Laboratory of the RC “Athena” (AeGIS ATHENA), the project will highlight the geographical dimension of ancient pottery, examining distribution, trade hubs, and networks. At the same time, the use of AI technologies will help uncover new relationships and patterns for a deeper understanding of archaeological knowledge.
DATAPOT aspires to serve as a model for the digital humanities, transforming archaeological information into a dynamic, accessible, and innovative digital platform.
